With the summer in full bloom, dresses of all colors and patterns are always my first choice, and today it’s all about a certain print and a certain question: swing dresses and houndstooth – a match made in heaven?
As you might’ve guessed so far, retro swing dresses are one of my favorite dress styles, not just for summer but all year round. Especially on a hot day such as this one, they make you look put together but still quite comfortable.
The print I went for today is the houndstooth one. Even though this black and white combo isn’t maybe the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking about summer, I feel it may still be a good choice. It can pose a contrast to the surroundings and the overall feel.
To be honest, it’s not just the print and the cut of the dress that makes it special to me, but the neckline, too. The halterneck brings the dress to another level, making it look more sultry. This contrasts the playfulness of the bottom, bringing the whole design together.
And, of course, each outfit should have a twist to it, right? Well, the twist in this one is, actually, a hat. Yes, a hat! You won’t see me wearing them too often, at least I haven’t in the past. But, when I tried this one I actually loved how it looked and how well it went with the dress. It was another more playful element compared to the strict pattern of the dress and I loved it.
Lastly, I chose to wear one of my favorite flats, the white ones with red lips. Again, another more relaxed element. And, finally, this gorgeous black vintage bag to bring everything together.
So, what do you say, swing dresses and houndstooth – a match made in heaven? Would you wear this type of pattern in warmer months or is it reserved for the cooler ones? Let’s chat in the comment section!
And now, let’s see some pictures!
The dress is British Retro, jewelry, bag, and hat are vintage.
