My fashion story

grandmother

So, my first blog post ever…They say the most difficult thing is to write your first sentence. Once you’ve dealt with that, everything should go on smoothly. I guess I should stop with the rambling and actually begin with my fashion story.

I’d say the number one thing that should be explained is why I decided to get myself involved into blogging and what this blog will be about. I’ve had the idea of writing my own fashion and lifestyle online diary for quite some time now. Still, somehow timing never seemed right. So, one of these days I sat down and realized there is no perfect time, so why not now?

Right at the beginning of this post I have to make a confession. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those people who’ve had their fashion style since they can remember it. My journey took a little while. Through my teens and 20s, I’ve gone through quite a few different styles. I was struggling to find my own identity. Looking back now, I’m guessing it had to do with me being a little bit shy and self-conscious of what others had to say about me. But, as time went on I learned how to leave those opinions aside and express myself through my fashion sense, my hair, nails, tattoos etc.

Even though, as I said, it took me a while to make it clear what I wanted out of fashion, I still had types of looks I gravitated to. The thing I’ve always admired was the elegance and the beauty of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. I just didn’t know or even hesitated to incorporate that spirit into my everyday wear. Why those decades in particular?

I think now is about time to tell you a little bit about my biggest fashion icon – my grandmother. Ever since I was little I’ve always admired not only the clothes and accessories but the way she wore them and the aura she had about it and still does today. To me, she represents the epitome of how a woman should carry herself. She is elegant and feminine, yet strong and independent at the same time. So, as I was approaching my 30s and allowing myself the freedom to explore and consolidate my personal fashion expression I realized I had it in me the entire time. It just took me a bit longer.

As a result, I embraced my love for vintage fashion through my grandmother’s clothes and all the great finds from vintage and thrift shops. They are now essential parts of my wardrobe together with my retro and unique pieces as well as with the contemporary pieces. Hence, the blog name Eclectic by choice. I do try to give my best at mixing all of these styles together to make wearable, yet different outfits.

To conclude with this already massive post, this blog will have a bit of everything – fashion, lifestyle, beauty, travel… All the things that inspire me in everyday life.

I hope you will take this journey with me! And, I’ll do my best to be as organized and productive as I can be!

Till my next post,

Have a great day, Ana

p.s. I could not finish this little story of mine without showing you just a couple of pictures of my beautiful and fabulous grandmother. I hope you will see why she is such an inspiration for me…
